The modern city beach of Vela Luka was completely renovated in 2012 and now has, besides a pebbly sea-bottom, also good bathing plateaus and lying areas. On the northern bay side, the Azzurro Beach lies below the Posejdon Hotel diagonally across the palm-lined gas station and the marina in the center of Vela Luka. In the summer season, taxi boats run between the center and the beach, but it can also be reached by car, on foot or by bike. The pebbled sea bed is comfortable and ideal for small children and non-swimmers, as well as the gently sloping shore that is only steps away. The Azzurro Beach provides modern changing rooms, showers, toilets and parasol and lounge chair rentals. Entertainment possibilities are provided by recreational facilities, like the floating water park with a trampoline. Dining options include a restaurant and a café, which are directly connected to the beach.
