Beaches for water sports

Sometimes deep blue, sometimes turquoise: The Croatian Adriatic Sea is not only an attraction for beach lovers of all kinds, but increasingly more so for water sport lovers as well. With over 6,100 kilometers of coastline, Croatia is a paradise for beach lovers and active holidaymakers alike. Due to the heavily indented Adriatic coastline here, there are a wide variety of surfing and diving spots as well as numerous beaches, which all offer a wide range of water sports- hardly leaving anything to be desired. The selection of water sports to be found on the popular beaches range from leisure activities to more active, such as water-skiing, para-sailing, and more. Sailors, windsurfers and kite-surfers prefer to cavort on the extensive beaches with constantly blowing winds, whereas divers prefer the beaches near shipwrecks or interesting reefs.

The islands in the Kvarner Bay are also enjoying an increase in popularity. Cres, Krk and Losinj are not only popular destinations among surfers, but are also appreciated by sport and hobby divers who take pleasure from the beautiful bays here. Just waiting to be discovered are impressive riffs, rock formations and fascinating sea creatures. Surrounded by untouched nature, you can also dive right in the middle of the Kornati National Park in northern Dalmatia as well as around the Mljet Island to the south and even around the Brijuni National Park in Istria. A particularly popular sailing area extends over the islands in northern Dalmatia - popular because of the many islands and beautiful anchorages here. Many sailors are also drawn to the Kvarner Bay or to South and Central Dalmatia.

Facilities for water-skiing, windsurfing and diving can be found, in particular, on the well-equipped beaches, which also provide numerous dining and recreational activities for their guests. Beaches that can be recommended for this purpose include, inter alia, the Plava Plaza and Hangar (Olympia) Beaches in Vodice, Zlatni Rat by Bol on the Brac Island, the Cikat Bay in Mali Losinj, the Velika Raduca Beach in Primosten, Vela Plaza in Baska on the Island of Krk, the Medena Beach near Trogir and Drazica Beach in Biograd. All these beaches have, in addition to water skis, deals for sailing and/or divers. Wake-boarders will find the perfect place to hang out at the Zrće party beach near Novalja. This beach especially appeals to the younger generation and attracts them with its diverse leisure and sporting activities, such as bungee jumping, fly-boarding. It even has a roller coaster.
