Welcome to Family Friendly Croatia

Hard to believe, but true, is the fact that the small country of Croatia has more than 1,700 kilometers of coastline on the mainland and another 4,400 kilometers of coastline on its islands: It is no wonder that there are numerous coastal areas and beaches along this extremely versatile coastline. In Croatia there are particularly family-friendly sandy beaches such as on the Island of Rab, around Crikvenica, in Medulin near Pula, in Lumbarda on the Korcula Island, around Omis near Split, or on the Islands of Vis and Pasman, in addition to many beaches consisting of fine pebbles which lie, for example, along the Makarska Riviera or like Baska on the Island of Krk. Slightly more common are pebbled beaches with medium to large pebbles or rocky beaches on which you can do some fantastic snorkeling. As a whole, sandy beaches are almost invariably to be found in the category of family-friendly beaches because sandy beaches, even without significant infrastructure, are the most popular among most families.

Many family-friendly beaches in Croatia have also been awarded the "Blue Flag". Besides tourist provisions, the family beaches in Croatia that appeal most to vacationers are easy accessible, have facilities such as toilets, changing rooms and showers as well as having a demarcated swimming area. Furthermore, many family beaches also have even the minimum of leisure activities, such as a water slide, natural shade and a lifeguard. Moreover, in many places, lounge chairs and umbrellas are available for rental.

There is a family beach to be found on every Riviera

A large majority of the beaches in Croatia are ideal for families. However, there are some Rivieras and coastal areas that will be highlighted because of their beauty and their amenities. In addition to those mentioned above, these include the beaches and towns of Zlatni Rat on the Brac Island (near Bol), which is sometimes called the "Golden Horn", and the sandy beach in Zaton near Zadar, which lies in the immediate vicinity of a resort. Shallow, sandy beaches can be found in particular in the region around Nin near Zadar (Queen's beach) and on the Island of Rab in Lopar, which is known for its child-friendly Paradise Beach. Also worth a visit are the beaches in the Kvarner Bay around Opatija and Crikvenica, the sandy beaches in Duce and Omis, the sandy Bacvice Beach in Split as well as  the Medena Beach in Trogir: The beauty of it all, is that it is impossible for you to choose the wrong beach for a family vacation to Croatia!
