Barbat

Barbat is a holiday resort in the south region of the island of Rab in the Kvarner Bay, which makes claim to a little more than 1,200 inhabitants. The former fishing village is located directly between the mainland by Jablanac and the elongated Dolin Island, which is separated from Barbat from the Barbatski  channel. The settlements of both sides are well protected for this reason. Due to its geographical location on Rab Island, Barbat is a popular destination for boaters and boat owners who can anchor safely in the small marina of the town.

Those who are interested in cultural and historical sights should climb Sveti Damjan Mountain. Here there are the remains of an ancient Greek fortress. Other important buildings can be found about 3 km away in Rab, the island's capital.

There is no lack in Barbat concerning restaurants, beaches, and things to do. Despite the small town being located outside the hustle and bustle of the city, it does manage to provide visitors with a varied program. Here you can experience a mix of everything from the traditional festivals, such as the "Karmenica", to the beautiful sandy coves that are ideal for sunbathing, swimming and splashing about. Since a large part of the surrounding area consists of uninhabited, wooded landscapes, a bike tour or a hike through the southern part of the island is definitely worth it. Not far from here is the second ferry port of the island, in the settlement of Misnjaka.
