Buje

About 13 kilometers from Umag, directly in the Istrian inland, is the small town of Buje. About 3,000 people live and work here. If you drive along the highway between Koper and Pula, you will be able to discover the small town, if only from a distance. The town is embedded in a fertile, green countryside on a conical hill. Its freestanding bell tower from the parish Church of Sv. Servul welcomes guests from afar in particular. Buje, the capital of the Croatian wine region of Bujština, is considered an excellent destination for riding and hunting. The rolling hills of the surroundings can be wonderfully explored on horseback – with the beat of the horses' hooves, it is possible to observe, with a little luck, other wildlife. Noteworthy is the beautifully preserved old town, which is mainly characterized by historic Venetian houses. The raised patrician palace from 1485 is enchanting to gaze upon as well as parts of the city wall and gate which date back to the Middle Ages.

Since Buje is located in the Istrian inland, this small town does not, of course, have its own beaches. Umag, however, is only a few minutes drive away and Buje's guests can quickly get to the coast with its wonderful beaches. You will only need about 20 minutes from the city center of Umag to the beach if you take the D300. Especially recommended are the well-equipped beaches in the immediate vicinity of Buje: for example Katoro, Laguna Stella Maris, Polynesia or Aurora. The afore mentioned beaches offer a wide range of leisure and sports facilities as well as sanitary facilities and have dining options located in their immediate areas. From Buje, you can take the beautiful bike and hiking trails that lead through the romantic, green landscape directly to the beaches.
