Drašnice

Drasnice on the Riviera Makarska is, in the true sense of the word, a source of natural peculiarities. Along its coast there are natural swells that cause the sea's surface to foam up- a true wonder of nature. On the mainland side, the massive Biokovo Mountains in the backdrop of the coastal village of 330 inhabitants are extremely impressive.

Hikers and mountain bikers will find challenging and interesting routes through the beautiful mountain scenery and natural landscape of Dalmatia here, which is criss-crossed by olive groves and brambles (a type of thorny brush). This is why the word for "thorns" gave the town of Drasnice its name. The varied coastline and the short distance to Makarska as well as to the islands of Brac and Hvar ensure that a holiday in Drasnice will be a diverse mix of swimming, sports and cultural excursions.

In the old village above the port, you can visit the Gothic-styled Church of St. Stephen that bears two inscriptions in which the Croatian Duke Stephan is mentioned. On the coast, hidden behind some stone houses, there is a Baroque church from 1745. The church's floor is made of grave stones. Right next to the church is the cemetery with grave stones from the Middle Ages. When it comes to cuisine, Drasnice provides its visitors with a few small restaurants, bistros and cafés, which can be found along the coast.
