Gonar

The tranquil settlement of Gonar is ideal for a quiet holiday in the Kvarner Bay. Gonar is located on the northern portion of the island of Rab on the northwest side of an elongated peninsula between the Bay of Kampor and Supetarska Draga. Gonar is part of the neighboring town of Supetarska Draga, where there are shops, restaurants and bars. The few houses from the locals and the private accommodations for tourists sit on the gentle hills of the small Gonar Bay.

Many tourists use the well-developed roads in the densely forested hinterlands of Gonar to take long bike rides and hikes. Along the rugged coast with its many bays you can spend a day in the nature that brings so much joy and variety to the beach everyday. The central beach of Gonar is well developed and has a variety of recreational activities. In addition, you can go for a swim on one of the small islets off of Gonar or explore the coves to the north.

Only a few kilometers away is the capital city of the island,Rab. Rab has plenty of of cultural attractions you to explore, like the City Palace and the famous four bell towers, that from a distance look like four great masts of a ship. Also worth a visit are the former prison islands of Sveti Grgur and Goli otok, which lie before the Lopar peninsula- famous for its sandy beaches.
