Karin Gornji

Nestled in the mountainous region around the coastal city of Zadar is the village of Gornji Karin and its 1,125 inhabitants. The village lies in the southern foothills of the massive Velebit Mountains and is located just 40 km from Zadar and the Paklenica National Park. Karin Gornji is situated on the southern banks of the Karinsko More - a small bay which is connected to the Novigrad Sea by a narrow channel. The sea is rich in fish and mussels, which pleases anglers and provides for the delicious fish specialties served in local restaurants.

The remains of a temple dedicated to the goddess Latre and a small amphitheater, where it is said gladiator fights once took place, all tell the story of the village during Roman times. The proximity to the Velebit Mountains, Paklenica National Park and the Zrmanja River, which flows into the Novigrad Sea, attracts active vacationers to Karin Gornji in particular. At the same time, it also lures in tourists seeking seclusion and tranquility. Rafting, hiking, mountain biking, sailing and swimming on the pebbled beach of Gornji Karin: at this resort, your vacation can be as leisurely, active or varied as you want it to be.
