The central Dalmatian city of Kastela, situated close to Trogir, is divided into seven districts, one of which is Kastel Kambelovac. Among the coastlines which are all named after fortresses, Kastel Kambelovac is unique in many ways: The Tower Cambi that was built in 1517 by the Cambi brothers, Jerolim and Nikola, from Split is the only tower to have a cylindrical shape. This cleverly crafted, round design proved to be very successful in defending the town against any enemies. Also unique here are the large and small fortresses of Piskera (fortified castles) that were built in 1525 by the farmers of Kastel Kambelovac.

In addition to a visit to the Cambi Tower and the castles, a visit to the "Baletna skola" is worthwhile. This building, in which the first ballet school in Croatia was opened, sits directly on the waterfront promenade. Today, its premises house a restaurant and a hotel. You can enjoy the historic ambiance of the town by sampling regional specialties, such as the under the "Peka" prepared fish and veal dishes with fresh herb refined vegetables. In the evenings, especially in July, you can partake in the traditional events taking place in Kastel Kambelovac, for example, the "Klapa" song festival. If you need to be active during the day, you can explore one of the many marked hiking trails around Mount Kozjak that will lead you to, inter alia, the Church of Gospa na Krugu and the Church of Sveti Mihovil.
