The village of Kukljica, with its 714 inhabitants, is one of the major tourist centers- actually still quite tranquil- on the island of Ugljan, which extends parallel to the mainland coast along the northern Dalmatian port city of Zadar. With beautiful beaches, picturesque stone houses and its Mediterranean port, Kukljica is an idyllic place where you can easily relax. Families with children, in particular, will find a wide range of fun and activities to do. Moreover, even older vacationers or couples come to the many romantic and predominantly sandy coves at their own accord.

The small fishing village can be reached by taking the ferry connection from the mainland (Zadar) to the neighboring village of Preko, or by using the bridge in southern Kukljica, which connects the island of Ugljan with the neighboring island of Pasman. Similar to many other villages, the Dalmatian coast life takes place in the port area. Here where the fishermen bring their catch ashore, tourists stroll along the gently rocking boats and take boat tours until finally returning to the village to dine at the traditional restaurants and taverns. The tranquil day to day routine is brought to life in the summer months when various celebrations are held, such as the Procession of Our Lady of Snow (Gospa od Snijega). The many beautiful beaches in Kukljica are the main reasons for the resort's popularity. Listed below are some of the rare Northern Dalmatia sandy beaches, including the Bay of Sabusa.
