Lokva Rogoznica

The coastal town of Lokva Rogoznica has a view of the Central Dalmatian island of Brac and is located 33 kilometers southeast of the port city of Split and 28 km northwest of Makarska. The old village of Lokva Rogoznica lies 260 meters above sea level on the hillside, whereas the modern district has formed along the coast to the southeast. The coastal road highway lies in between and is where you can find the restaurants and pubs serving delicious Dalmatian cuisine. The residents have built their houses in a terraced form in the rough cliffs of the mountainous hinterlands covered with pine trees. Here you will always have a fantastic panorama before your eyes.

This town of 390 inhabitants was first mentioned in writing in 1230, inscribed on the Statute of Rogoznica, as the Croatian-Hungarian King promised land to some noble families. The inhabitants subsisted from fishing and the vineyards from which the famous Rogoznicko wine comes from. At the center is the parish Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The mountain a bit further up is where the Church of Sveti Vid is situated, which dates back to the 13th and 14th centuries. The sightseeing attractions in Lokva  Rogoznica are easy to visit due to the well-developed walking trails here.
