Mali Iž

On the southeast coast of the small island of Iz, situated upon a hill, is the village of Mali Iz. The island of Iz is located in North Dalmatia or rather Zadar, between the islands of Ugljan and Dugi Otok. The somnolent town is home to only 150 inhabitants who largely subsist from fishing and agriculture - like the many generations before them. Among the historical features of Mali Iz are the prehistoric remains and ruins of an Illyrian Sentinel, which can testify to the long history of the settlement.

In the Bay of Mali Iz there is a small port where the ferry from Zadar regularly docks and then leaves again operating to the nearby islands. Those who are visiting Mali Iz by boat can use this opportunity to learn about the fascinating island landscape around Iz. Around the town, there are more small ports in the districts of Knez and Komoševa. The clay that is used by the Veli Iz pottery workshop is found near Mali. Veli Iz is responsible for making the traditional pottery pieces, Iški Lopizi, which Iz Island is well known for.
