Martinscica is located on the southwest coast of the island of Cres in the Kvarner Bay. Although the tranquil fishing village is one of only 200 inhabitants, Martinscica is one of the largest settlements on the isle. Surrounded by olive groves, the resort encompasses a Mediterranean flair, which is typical for the region in the Kvarner Bay. Here you can stroll past rustic stone houses overgrown by green tendrils and by religious buildings such as the church of St. Jerome, or make your way to one of the local restaurants that serve traditional dishes. These include mainly meat and fish dishes that are prepared under a "Peka". This is a bell made of cast iron or clay, which is then covered with embers.

The locals continue the tradition of catching fishing as it has been done long before. In the early morning hours when you go to the harbor you can participate in the tradition by buying the fish directly from the boat. In honor of the venerable St. Martin - namesake and patron of the city-  the residents organize a festival in Martinscica in November; a festival full of dance, song and regional cuisine. Further events also take place in summer during the high season when holiday makers come to the beaches of Martinscica for some relaxation.
