Maslinica

On the western coast of the Solta Island, you will come across the idyllic, sleepy Maslinica Resort. Solta is located between the Islands of Brac and Drvenik near the towns of Trogir and Split. The small harbor settlement comprises of just 200 inhabitants and belongs to Grohote, the capital of the isle. Although the village is not very big, it is the tourist center – in regards to offers and holiday accommodations.

The Martinis Marchi Castle Hotel is located in the southern part of the village, directly on the marina. The southern complex of this former residence of the Venetian Marchi Family resembles the style of the Diocletian Palace in Split. This luxury hotel is one of the finest on the island and only has six suites. In addition, there are beautiful private accommodations, some shopping and some good restaurants that serve predominantly fresh fish and delicious grilled dishes.

The Church of Saint Nicholas of Myra thrones the top of a hill above the village. The church, which was built in honor of the patron saint of sailors, dates back to the year 1706. On the Stipanska Island lying immediately before Maslinica there is a Benedictine monastery. A visit here can be ideally combined with a beautiful boat ride to the island and to the surrounding bays. In order to explore the area around Maslinica, it is highly recommended that you take a leisurely bike ride all across the Mediterranean island's landscape.
