Mimice

The Mediterranean village of Mimice on the Omis Riviera is enclosed by Omiska Dinara and the pebbled beaches along the Adriatic coast. This central Dalmatian town has a history going back further than 300 years ago, which can be seen in the churches and monuments in the historical district of Mimice above the highway. It's worth it to walk through the cobbled streets and underneath the old stone houses where the locals live, whereas holidaymakers like to stay in the new buildings around the coast.

In the center there is the small church of Sveti Rok (Saint Rocco) with an artful photo collection. These works have been done by the artists from the art colony, which was established in 1990 and whose sculptures are scattered throughout the town. Residents hold an annual festival in honor of St. Rocco that attracts many tourists. Many traditional events take place around the harbor in the summer, such as the Fishermen's Night which excites guests with its long-standing traditions and regional dishes.

In Mimice there are grocery shops, cafés, restaurants and the tourist office, so you can find everything you need within walking distance. If you want to explore the area, you will have to be dependent on a car, boat or bus. There is no footpath along the coastal road. Around Mimice there are opportunities for cycling, climbing, para-gliding, diving and rafting.
