Murvica

At the foot of a steep slope on the southern coast of the island of Brac, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, is the picturesque village of Murvica. The tranquil village of Murvica is located 5 km west of Bol and about 3 km from the most beautiful beach in Croatia, the "Zlatni Rat". Murvica is located on a steep hillside. Many of the stone houses are deserted. On the steep trails, visitors can wander through the village and absorb the picturesque, yet morbid charm of the once lively village.

Tourist developments are limited here. Since Bol is only a few kilometers away, you can find everything you need within a short trip by car or bike. In the village, there is only one restaurant and a coffee shop. Known for its idyllic mountains and hills, Murvica has many hiking and biking trails along the coast leading to secluded beaches or enchanted valleys.

Just above the village is the remarkable Dragon Cave (Zmajeva Spilja). A well constructed hiking trail leads from the center (follow the signs) to the 20 meter long Dragon Cave. The cave gets its name from the ornaments and dragon pictures that the monks scratched into the rock walls in the 16th century. A visit to the Dragon Cave is possible only under the supervision of a guide and through prior arrangements. Nevertheless, those wishing to explore the surroundings of Murvica, can visit several monastery ruins, located in the mountains. Specifically, the ruins are the remains of monastic dwellings that were built in the 15th century.
