Palit

Palit is a small island town in a small bay on the west coast behind Rab, the main town of the eponymous island lying in the southern region of the Kvarner Bay. Palit is the youngest town on the island of Rab, which is why it has such a modern cityscape. There are about 1,600 inhabitants in the resort. Palit is well known for its excellent beaches, its well-developed promenade with numerous restaurants and bars as well as its good shopping. Here you will often see many tourists from neighboring places bustling about in the streets.

In the main town of Rab you can visit the historical sights, among other things, which is located only a few kilometers northwest of Banjol and can be easily reached on foot or by bike. The promenade leads to the monastery of St. Euphemia. The old monastery was built in 1446 by the Franciscans in the Bay of Euphemia. Since the Franciscan monastery is open to the public, it is worth visiting. In the peaceful village harbor there are some docks for smaller boats, which is why Banjol attracts so many boaters. From here you can take relaxing boat trips- for example, a day trip to the former prison islands Goli otok and Sveti Grgur.
