Petrčane

In the small fishing village of Petrcane, 12 km northwest of Zadar, you will feel the nearly 900 years of history without the destination losing its contemporary Mediterranean flair. The town's image is characterized by holiday homes standing scattered across the landscape and a few stone houses in the Dalmatian style, as well as some historical buildings such as St. Bartholomew's Church with its massive bell tower and a small harbor which emits a Mediterranean atmosphere. The little fishing boats of the locals rock gentle at the docks. These boats show the current significance of fishing as a source of income for the village of Petrcane besides tourism.

At night you can enjoy freshly caught fish or other regional specialties in the restaurants and traditional taverns, where delicious local cuisine and very aromatic wines are served. The tranquil fishing village offers a wonderful balance between rest and active holiday tourism, especially because the surrounding countryside is ideal for hiking and cycling. Between farmers' fields and olive groves there are beautiful paths.

At the same time one can also travel to the other great destinations of North Dalmatia - like Zadar and Sibenik - exciting bustling city life. When it come to those interested in the beauty of their surroundings, let's not forget the renowned Austrian hotel company, Falkensteiner located on the western edge of Petrcane. It is one of the most luxurious resorts to ever be conjured up in Croatia. Visitors can relax on the clean, pebbled beach of Petrcane that have concrete lying areas in some places.
