Seget Donji

Approximately 2,680 people live in Seget Donji, a peaceful town just 2 km west of Trogir. Due to its proximity to Trogir, Seget Donji is often referred to as one of its suburbs. The former fishing village has developed around a fortress built using Split's Diocletian's Palace as an example by Jakov Rotundo from Trogir in 1564. The fort provided the people from the surrounding areas with protection during the time of the Turkish attacks. Many then stayed and built their homes in Seget Donji. There is a fortified tower remaining from the rustic fortress, which lies in the midst of some greenhouses just outside the center. Around Seget Donji you can discover the sacred buildings and shrines with Marie-portraits that lie along the road.

The place is well adjusted to hosting tourists who wish to relax here at the beach or those who want to do sports in the surrounding areas. The palm-lined promenade has small bars and restaurants serving regional cuisine. Here, near the shore, Seget Donji has retained its original charm that impress visitors with its narrow streets and old stone houses. Hiding behind the houses is the parish Church of Our Lady of Ruzarija. It was built in 1758 on the foundations of the previous church.
