Sobra is a small coastal village on the northern side of the densely forested southern Dalmatian Island of Mljet. Sobra is located in the large bay sharing its name with views of the Peljesac Peninsula. In Sobra, you will find the Mljet Island's ferry port, which has ferry connections to both Dubrovnik, as well as to the offshore lying Peljesac Peninsula. The town and its 130 inhabitants, who settled here in the Sobra Bay around 1920, are still acting as a harbor for the inland lying town of Babino Polje. With the emergence of tourism in this former fishing village, there were also a number of modern holiday apartments and restaurants that sprung up, mingling with the old stone houses of the residents.

There are no notable attractions in Sobra. In the western section of the bay, you can visit a small fish farm. The town has a supermarket, taxi service and the only gas station on the island. What dominates the town are the surrounding lush green hills that give the landscape around Sobra its charm. Above the town, you will find the Blatina wetlands- a lake between the slopes. The impressive landscape makes hiking a popular pastime on the island, especially at the western end where the Mljet National Park is. If you would prefer to explore the sea front in Sobra, you can contact the dive center or rent a boat. The small islands in the East and the cove-rich coastline make Sobra a very busy area for boaters.
