Stara Novalja

In the northeast region of the island of Pag you will find Stara Novalja, which literally means "old Novalja" and it is indeed only a few kilometers away from the neighboring city of Novalja. The tranquil coastal town lies at the end of a long bay and the entire metropolitan area extends into the eastern part of the island, up until where you can see the Velebit Mountains on the mainland. Although the settlement is called "old Novalja", its modern cityscape is characterized by newly built apartments and houses, which line up on the rolling hills around the coast. The accommodations for tourists have therefore, more of a familiar flair.

Its location in the bay and the deep blue to turquoise, crystal clear waters make Stara Novalja popular with boaters, sailors and divers. The services for water sports are versatile, but you will find more opportunities for leisure activities in Novalja.

The inhabitants of the village live mainly from agriculture and viticulture. It is then of no surprise that wine is included in the local specialties. In the local taverns, a glass should always be served when enjoying a typical fish or lamb dish. The surrounding countryside of Stara Novalja is perfect for long walks and bike rides, and should not be forgotten on your relaxing holiday.
