Trpanj

About 720 people have chosen the quiet coastal village of Trpanj on the northern coast of the southern Dalmatian Peljesac Peninsula as their home; not a bad choice at all: The peaceful resort is connected via a ferry to the mainland in Ploce. This was once an important trade route used to deliver wine to the mainland. Furthermore, you can also reach Trpanj by taking the main road that begins at Ston and Mali Ston on the Peljesac peninsula.

Trpanj is an area that was populated very early on in history, possessing Roman villas and medieval finds. You can explore some historical attractions all along the cypress covered hills surrounding the town, where you will find sacred buildings and ruins. To reach the Church of Sveti Rok, you must first make the worthwhile climb of 402 stairs. The names of those who helped with the renovation have been engraved in the stairs. The views over Trpanj, the Island of Hvar and the mainland is incomparable.

Due to its many visitors, the town has a wide selection of restaurants and bars as well as leisure activities (including walking, cycling, boccia, night fishing and music events). A visit to the beaches around Trpanj will give you some very special experiences as you take pleasure in the Croatian mud found here. Take the time to roll in the mud which helps against various ailments and diseases (rheumatism, for example).
