At an altitude of 355 meters high, the small town of Zminj overlooks a richly green landscape of olive trees and vineyards. The forests and meadows are criss-crossed by miles of hiking and biking trails that entice visitors to take long walks and bike rides all throughout the beautiful surroundings. Interesting for visitors are the stone huts deriving from the medieval period that are just waiting along the paths between Vodnjan and Zminj to be discovered.

Not only the environment, however, has something interesting to offer visitors, but the city itself also bewitches guests with its peculiar medieval charm. For example, there are still remains of large parts of a defensive wall. The sacred buildings are worth a visit too. The Baroque Church of St. Michael now houses many valuable works of art from the 17th and 18th centuries. Beautiful and rare frescoes from the 15th century can be seen in the Church of the Holy Trinity. You should also, under no circumstances, miss the festival of St. Bartholomew, which is traditionally celebrated on the last Saturday in August every year. The festival named Bratulja attracts visitors from all over Istria.
