The 17.6 sq kilometer Iz Island is rather small and lies between Dugi Otok and Ugljan situated off the coast of Zadar. Lying before the harbor of the village is the small, uninhabited island of Rutnjak.

The water falls very flatly into the sea, there are sanitation facilities, as well as restaurants and shops in the immediate vicinity. Iz is also an excellent starting point for day trips to neighboring islands or to the city of Zadar on the mainland. On the island of Dugi Otok there is the sandy, shallow, slowly sloping into the sea, dreamy Bay of Sakarun, very near to Soline. The idyllic bay shimmering in every shade of blue, is very popular for boaters looking for a place to anchor. Boaters, however, can't avoid the spray from the fine sandy beach which is one of the finest in the country and has a truly Caribbean flair.
