From the gently sloping beaches to the mountainous hinterlands

The Kvarner Bay is one of the most beautiful regions in Croatia with is fantastic panoramic Mediterranean stretches of land which lie between rough mountain ranges and the deep blue of the Adriatic sea. Here, where the bustling city of Rijeka is located, there is the densely forested island of Krk and the historically rich, 3000 year old city of Senj- all just waiting to be explored.

Stretching over 70 kilometers south towards Prizna, the Senj Riviera shares its name with the main tourist-visited and economically important city that is connected to the south by the villages of Povile and Klenovica. This coastal section comprises the towns of Krivi Put, Senj, Vratnik, Sveti Juraj, Lokovo, Krasno, Klada, Stari Grad, Jablanac, Stinica, Prizna and Senjska Draga. Some towns like Stari Grad and Senj are located directly at the foot of the Velebit mountains, others like Senjska Draga and Krasno are located in the hinterlands of Velebit and Kapela mountain ranges - at the height of the island of Rab, which is a popular destination in the region.

Senj is a town of about 6,000 inhabitants and has a long-standing, traditional and eventful history. It houses, among other attractions, the Nehaj Fortress from the 16th century which is one of the most monumental fortresses in Croatia. At that time it was used for defense against the Turks and Venetians, today it is one of the most popular destinations in the region and serves as a backdrop for numerous music events, exhibitions and performances. You can feel that Senj's history lies very close to the locals' hearts, when you participate in the numerous festivals such as the summer and winter carnival, folk concerts, fishing festivals and concerts.  The large fishing village of Sveti Juraj, south of Senj, has a population of 690 residents and is home to a small, protected offshore rock island harbor, where there are few anchorages- perfect for sailors and boaters. From here you can quickly get to the islands of Krk and Rab. Swimming and sun bathing are the most well known activities in the area around Prizna. The place is surrounded by some of the most beautiful sandy beaches in the region. A few kilometers away, in Ribarica and Cesarica there are beautiful sandy beaches with ideal conditions for swimming in shallow water. A ferry to the island of Pag Prizna ensures a fast crossing to one of the most beautiful destinations in the region.
