Riviera Vodice

Charming fishing villages and untouched nature

The Riviera Vodice does not stretch far along the coast of Northern Dalmatia, but it still belongs to the most appealing and popular vacation spots in Croatia – thanks to the proximity to impressive national parks like Krka and Kornati, cities like Sibenik and Trogir, colorful festivals in the summer as well as the many islands along the coasts off Vodice, Srima, and Tribunj. Among other things the Riviera is known for the festival of Croatian discography.

Vodice, which is easily accessible from the airports in Zadar and Split, lies in a wide bay enclosed by welcoming pebble stone beaches and has a large marina in its center. The gently sloping beaches partly stretch beyond the city limit into the surrounding resorts of Tribunj and Srima – just like the continuation of the Plava Plaza pebble stone beach in the Western part of the city. There are thus plenty of beautiful beaches to enjoy along the entire coast. It certainly won’t be boring at the Riviera’s clean pebble stone beaches: Touristic and gastronomic options at the beaches are diverse and plentiful. There are also many festivals and other events during the summer that delight both natives and visitors. Among these are the festival of Croatian discography and the Jazz festival in Vodice that attracts numerous visitors from the region.

275 berths in the water and 55 berths on land make for a relatively large marina that belongs, not least because of the islands off the coast, to the maritime centers in Croatia. Many boat owners and tourists take advantage of the marina’s convenient location to take a trip to the surrounding islands that tempt with isolated bays and Mediterranean landscapes. A few nautical miles farther lies the archipelago Kornati, whose national park that stretches over many islands make it a true paradise for mariners. Another national park is located on the mainland. Stretching across the hinterland of Sibenik the Krka national park

A few nautical miles farther lies the archipelago Kornati, whose national park that stretches over many islands make it a true paradise for mariners. Another national park is located on the mainland. Stretching across the hinterland of Sibenik the Krka national park with its river of the same name is known throughout Europe for its ruggedly picturesque waterfalls and the Karl May movies. Krka national park is ideal for romantic walks, boat trips, or hiking tours along one of the well-developed paths. Going southwest along the river stream one arrives at Skardin, a pictureseque village at the river Krka that is enclosed in the hilly landscape at the gates of the national park. Skardin provides tranquility away from the hustle at the coast, while at the same time serving as starting point for active vacationers who seek adventures in and around the Krka national park. Those who are already in these parts of Northern Dalmatia, should certainly pay a visit to Sibenik. The lively city captivates visitors with an active cultural scene and historic sites like the St. Jacob Cathedral, a UNESCO world heritage site.

Vodice shares a wide bay with Tribunj in the West and Srima in the East. Just 1,3 km off Srima’s coast is the small island of Prvic – an ideal destination for a trip. Prvic has a rich cultural heritage like the three small churches. The city is mostly known for the inventor and scholar Faust Vrancic, who was born here.

Tribunj is a very popular fishing village due to its beautiful location in an enclosed bay and the small historic city, which can be accessed from the main land via a small stone bridge. Along with the adjacent marina the bridge creates a unique ensemble that is best appreciated in one of the great restaurants in the historic city. The locals are known for their hospitality. The restaurants that serve excellent regional specialties and the fishing boats that smoothly swing in the waves are both characteristic for Tribunj and also Srima’s ambient atmosphere. Together with Vodice they make a fascinating city trio that guarantees a great vacation.
