Kali

With about 1,700 inhabitants Kali is the largest town on the North Dalmatian island of Ugljan, which lies just a few nautical miles from the coastal town of Zadar in the Adriatic Sea. The town has developed around a small hill which is bordered by 2 small ports. 

Typical Dalmatian stone houses belong to this resort's delightful attractions just as much as the Baroque Church of St Lawrence and the old oil mill. It is then of no surprise that Kali is known for its tasty olive oil. This is served, along with other local dishes, in traditional restaurants and taverns in the village. Throughout history, the people of Kali have also been particularly talented in the tuna fishing industry- so much so that tuna has become an important ingredient in regional specialties. 

Similar to many of the other towns, the long tradition of fishing is celebrated on the Fisherman's Night that takes place in the summer to entertain the residents and tourists. Kali is easily accessible via the ferry port in neighboring Preko or via its own local port if you  take your own boat. It is only a short boat ride up to the mainland (Zadar or Sukosan). Visitors can relax on the beaches around Kali, among which, the picturesque Bay of Lamjana gets a special mention.
